Tranquil getaway
Visited Chippokes State Park and Bacon's Castle and stayed at a suite over Surry Seafood. What a nice find. Our room (#1) has views of the marsh and marina on Gray’s Creek. The morning sunrise and songs of the marsh birds heard from our balcony were an added plus. Queen bed in private room was comfortable. Living room has an additional queen sleeper sofa. Kitchen has mini-fridge and microwave with necessary dishes, etc. Good coffee. Large futon (a bit worn but very functional) and dining table (top) could use a refresh compared to other nice modern furnishings. Check-in is easy using door lock code from email. So pleased to find another "off the beaten path" Virginia eat and stay.

The staircase was outside which wasn’t a problem for us, but could be for others trying to bring their luggage up.
The suite was spacious with a bedroom, kitchen area, TV area/couch/chair and bathroom. All were small but put together made a very spacious accommodation and was much more than we expected for the price. It even had its own little balcony.
The food in the restaurant downstairs was amazing. The seafood that is. The steak was not that great.
The live music on Wednesday carried up to our room but wasn’t louder than the TV and was over by 9 pm
All in all it is a great place to stay. Clean and comfortable and we would definitely stay here again if we are ever back in the area.
